The Designing of 3D-Printed Modular Artificial Reef through Design Thinking Framework: A Case study in Koh Khai, Chumphon Province, Thailand

This study explores the design, production, and installation of 3D-printed modular artificial reefs (3DMARs) at Koh Khai, Chumphon Province, Thailand, through a design thinking framework. Collaborating with SCG Co., Ltd. and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, the research establishes design criteria and installation methods, utilizing content analysis and qualitative research. Key principles such as modularity, flexibility, environmental sustainability, and usability are identified. The user-centered approach optimizes the 3DMARs for transport and deployment, enabling local community involvement and fostering sustainable practices. The modular design supports scalability, enhancing marine habitats and coral larval settlement. Furthermore, underwater monitoring techniques enable site-specific data collection, allowing for the generation of digital twin models. This research offers a practical framework for marine ecosystem restoration and empowers coastal communities in Thailand and beyond

Innovation in commercial vertical set of golden apple snails as environmentally friendly using an aquaponics system

The innovation of the vertical aquaponics system for rearing golden apple snails integrating with vegetable cultivation by using substrates to water treatment. The system aims to maximize the use of vertical space, save water, and produce safe vegetables for consumption or commercial purposes, and to support living things. The golden apple snail excretes wastes/leftover food scraps that are filtered on the substrates used for water treatment. Meanwhile, natural bacteria help change these wastes into nutrients that plants can use. Therefore, the system is environmentally friendly.

Development of the intelligent indicator label for monitoring rancidity of deep fried foods

The production process of the food rancidity indicator label consists of three main steps: 1) preparation of the indicator solution, 2) preparation of the cellulose solution, and 3) formation of the sheet. The indicator solution includes bromothymol blue and methyl red, which act as indicators. The cellulose solution consists of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium hydroxide, polyethylene glycol 400, and the indicator solution. For the sheet formation, the cellulose solution was mixed with natural latex to increase flexibility and impart hydrophobic properties. After drying, the invention appears as a thin, dark blue label. When exposed to volatile compounds from rancid food, the label changes color from dark blue to green, and then to yellow, corresponding to the increasing amount of volatile compounds from the rancid food.

Viola edible flower production in soilless culture

The objective of this experiment was to determine the effect of nitrogen and potassium concentration combination with photoperiod on the growth of Viola in a plant factory to increase the quality of the products, reduce the production time and increase the production cycle throughout the year. The experimental plan was 3x3 Factorial in CRD with nine treatments and three replications (six plants per replication). The factor of this study was two factors; the first factor was three different concentrations of nitrogen and potassium in ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 2:1. The second factor was the application of different photoperiods. There were 1) 24-hours photoperiod, 2) 8-hours light/16-hours dark photoperiod (Induced flowering state: 13-hours light/11-hours dark photoperiod) and 3) 5-hours light/3-hours dark photoperiod. Controlled temperature at 25 °C, the EC=1.5-2.0 mS/cm and the pH=5.8-6.5 in all treatment. The result showed that the concentration of N: K in the ratio of 1:1 combined with 24-hour photoperiod was the most vegetative growth and also maximizes reproductive growth. The overall great sensory evaluation was an acceptable level and suitable for cooking or decorating dishes. Therefore, the concentration of N: K in the ratio of 1:1 combined with 24-hour photoperiod is the best treatment to increase the quality of the product, reduce the production time of viola flowers in each cycle from 90-100 days down to 43-45 days which is good for farmers.

Fire retardant

The purpose of this invention is to develop a forest fire prevention agent that has the ability to prevent long-term forest fires, not only to suppress forest fires or prevent forest fires from spreading widely, but to prevent them from starting to catch fire from the beginning. It can prevent forest fires comprehensively and can be prevented for a long time during the peak forest fire period or the dry season, which is about 3-4 months. There are no residues or minimal residues without causing harm to the surrounding environment under the specified standards. Emphasis is placed on the use of raw materials, equipment, and chemicals that can be easily found in Thailand. This includes using the value of production costs as low as possible. This makes it suitable for use in large quantities for spraying and protecting forest areas in forest areas that are prone to fire. Estimated average for pollution caused by forest fires include particulate matter (PM), including PM2.5, PM10, carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide, and carbon dioxide, Nitrogendioxide, VOC etc.

Effectiveness of plant essential oils on insecticidal activities against the importance medical and veterinary insect pests and bioassay on non- target species

Major medical and veterinary pests including the mosquitoes, houseflies and cockroaches pose health problems for humans and mammals and create more visual obstruction. Therefore, this research discovered a formula of essential oils and active ingredients from herbal plants that are highly effective in controlling and eliminating these insects compared to chemical insecticides, are safe for non-target organisms living in the environment, and are stable and maintain the active properties of the compounds. These formulas can be developed into environmentally friendly natural products to replace or reduce the use of chemical insecticides.

Handheld Mercury Meter

This work presents the fabrication of the handheld meter for potentiometric detection of Hg (II). The meter was constructed based on using an ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET) platform. The developed meter provides high accuracy and precision (%Recovery was in the range of 92.55 - 109.32 and %RSD was 2.38). It was applied to the analysis of cosmetic samples. The results by the developed electrode were not significantly different at a 95% confidence level compared to the results by using ICP-OES.
