Details
The herbal steam production technology applies community wisdom from Ban Rang Yom and agricultural research to extract essential oils from plants, providing a safe and sustainable method for pest and mite control.
The use of herbal extracts via "herbal steam" technology for pest control was developed through a collaboration between the Ban Rang Yom community in Kanchanaburi and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
- Working Principle: It utilizes water distillation to produce a mixture of water and essential oils that can be used immediately.
- Production Process:
- Prepare 50 kg of herbs, finely chopped, and mix with 50 liters of clean water in a 200-liter distillation tank.
- Distill until 30 liters of herbal steam is collected (approx. 3-4 hours).
- Add an emulsifier (e.g., petroleum oil, white oil, or surfactant) at a rate of 5 cc per liter.
- Application:
- Repellent: Use 80-100 cc per 20 liters of water, sprayed every 15 days.
- Insecticide: Use 200-400 cc per 20 liters of water, sprayed every 3-4 days.
