Details

This study compares the costs and returns of rice cultivation using chemical inputs versus biopesticides combined with chemicals in Bang Phli Noi, Samut Prakan. Results indicate that integrating biopesticides can lead to higher profitability for farmers.

During a cooperative education program at the Bang Bo District Agricultural Office, a study was conducted on rice cultivation methods. Key findings include:

  • Production Costs: The total cost for using biopesticides with chemicals was 5,099.50 THB/rai, compared to 5,129.00 THB/rai for chemical-only methods.
  • Returns: The biopesticide-integrated method yielded a profit of 3,485.50 THB/rai, whereas the chemical-only method yielded 3,371.00 THB/rai.
  • Challenges: Farmers face difficulties in sourcing biopesticides and lack of continuous agency support. Additionally, fresh biopesticide mixtures cannot be stored and must be used immediately, limiting their convenience.
