Koh Tao, a picturesque island in Thailand, is famous for its breathtaking coral reefs and vibrant marine life, attracting diving enthusiasts from all over the world. Despite its natural beauty, the island currently lacks innovative accommodations that enhance the visitor experience and promote environmental sustainability. This project proposes the development of a unique four-star floating resort with underwater villas, designed to offer an extraordinary lodging experience that fosters a deeper connection with the marine environment. By incorporating sustainable practices into the resort's design and operations, the project addresses the growing demand for eco-friendly tourism in the region. The floating resort concept aims not only to provide guests with an immersive experience but also to raise awareness about marine conservation. Through eco-friendly design and operations, the resort seeks to set a benchmark for sustainable tourism in Koh Tao, showcasing how accommodations can align with environmental stewardship, benefiting both the local ecosystem and tourism.
ที่มาเริ่มแรกของโครงการนี้ เกิดขึ้นจากการรับรู้ถึงปัญหาที่ทวีความรุนแรงขึ้นจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ โดยเฉพาะปัญหาการเพิ่มขึ้นของระดับน้ำทะเลซึ่งส่งผลกระทบต่อพื้นที่ชายฝั่งและเมืองใหญ่ต่างๆ รวมถึงกรุงเทพฯ ที่อาจจะได้รับผลกระทบจากการท่วมในอนาคต จากรายงานการศึกษาการคาดการณ์ของแผนที่โลกในปี 2050 พบว่า การเพิ่มขึ้นของระดับน้ำทะเลจะทำให้เมืองใหญ่หลายเมืองทั่วโลก รวมถึงประเทศไทยเสี่ยงต่อการจมลงใต้น้ำ ปัญหานี้ทำให้เกิดความตระหนักถึงความจำเป็นในการหาวิธีแก้ไข เพื่อการอยู่ร่วมกับน้ำอย่างยั่งยืน แนวคิดการออกแบบอาคารลอยน้ำจึงเป็นแนวทางหนึ่งที่เกิดขึ้นจากการพยายามหาทางออกในระยะสั้นและระยะยาว เพื่อให้มนุษย์สามารถอยู่ร่วมกับน้ำได้อย่างมีความสุขและยั่งยืน การศึกษาและพัฒนาอาคารลอยน้ำจึงมีความสำคัญในการมองหาแนวทางใหม่ๆ ที่สามารถตอบโจทย์การอยู่อาศัยในอนาคต ต่อมาจากการพัฒนาและค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลมากมาย ทำให้โครงการมีเป้าหมายหลักที่จะศึกษาและพัฒนาอาคารลอยน้ำในพื้นที่เกาะเต่า ซึ่งเป็นจุดหมายปลายทางที่ได้รับความนิยมจากนักท่องเที่ยวและนักดำน้ำจากทั่วโลก เกาะเต่ามีความสวยงามของแนวปะการังและระบบนิเวศทางทะเลที่หลากหลาย แต่ยังขาดที่พักที่สามารถเสริมสร้างประสบการณ์ใหม่ให้กับนักท่องเที่ยว โดยเฉพาะนักดำน้ำที่ต้องการใกล้ชิดกับธรรมชาติและประสบการณ์ดำน้ำ การพัฒนารีสอร์ทลอยน้ำจึงเป็นทางเลือกใหม่ในการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมการท่องเที่ยวที่ยั่งยืนและเป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม รีสอร์ทนี้จะช่วยเสริมสร้างความตระหนักรู้เกี่ยวกับการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมทางทะเล พร้อมทั้งให้ประสบการณ์ใหม่แก่ผู้เข้าพักในการเชื่อมโยงกับทะเลและระบบนิเวศทางทะเล การออกแบบรีสอร์ทลอยน้ำในเกาะเต่าจะเป็นต้นแบบที่สามารถนำไปต่อยอดการพัฒนาในพื้นที่อื่นๆ ที่มีความเสี่ยงจากระดับน้ำทะเลที่สูงขึ้นในอนาคต ทั้งนี้ยังสามารถเป็นแนวทางในการสร้างความยั่งยืนในอุตสาหกรรมการท่องเที่ยว
