The objective of this study was to examine the preliminary effects of supplementing water meal in cricket diets on cricket production. The study was conducted by putting water meal in a water basin containing approximately 24,500 cubic centimeters of water and after evaporation of chlorine from the water for 2 days at a shaded area for 1 month. Obtained quantity of water meal was 258 g as fresh basis (approximately 6.91 g as dry basis) with a high protein content. Then, the water meal was harvested by using cardboard to scoop watermeal and wait for water draining. Subsequently, the cardboard containing the water meal was supply to cricket as a feed supplementation. The results showed the crickets (approximately 2 weeks old) took 15 minutes to eat the water meal all, with no reverse effects found on the crickets. Therefore, it can be concluded initially that water meal can be supplemented to crickets as supplemented feed.

การบูรณาการการผลิตพืชและการผลิตสัตว์ในการการผลิตอาหารในรูปแบบของเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน (Circular economy) มีความสำคัญอย่างมากในการก่อให้เกิดความยั่งยืน และมั่นคงด้านอาหาร โดยเฉพาะในสภาพที่ปัจจัยการผลิตมีอยู่อย่างจำกัด และการผลิตมีผลกระทบกับสิ่งแวดล้อม การผลิตจิ้งหรีดและผำหรือไข่น้ำสามารถทำให้เกิดเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียนและใช้เป็นต้นแบบในการประยุกต์ใช้ในโลกอนาคตได้ โดยอาศัยหลักการ คือ นำผำหรือไข่น้ำมาเป็นอาหารของจิ้งหรีด โดยน่าจะสามารถนำมาทดแทนในอาหารสำหรับจิ้งหรีดได้ เนื่องจากผำหรือไข่น้ำเป็นแหล่งโปรตีน คาร์โบไฮเดรต และกรดไขมันโอเมก้า 3
